Randomessness (ya, I made that up)

Tag: Creative Media, Politics, Steve-o-nismsadmin @ 10:08 pm

1) So THE day is here, July 11th and the iPhone is officially available in Canada – too bad Robbers, er Rogers is the one company that can support it. Seriously, Canada has the MOST expensive and LEAST feature full plans IN THE WORLD! So until that changes and some form of sanity sinks in, I’ll stick with my already expensive Treo plan with Bell. The Toronto Star has a great summary of Pros & Cons here.

2) CBC.ca had this headline for a top story today:

2 of 5 feet found on B.C. coast belong to same man: RCMP [link]

Now is it me, or does it sound funny to claim the 2 of 5 belong to the same man – I mean the real story would be if ALL 5 belonged to 1 man, don’t you think?

3) What?! CNN.com has a lead story on CANADA?! Specifically about the Alberta Oil Sands [link]

4) Ah yes, now that’s more like it CNN – completely unbiased, riveting and true American-no-nonsense reporting – ‘Are You Black Enough?’ … God bless America – dayum!

5) HOW CAN AMERICANS PASS THIS LAW SO EASILY?! Even Obama caved and supported it (but Hilary didn’t!) [Obama link] , [Bush passes law, ACLU sues link]

So you say ‘I’m Canadian, why do I care?’ – simple, look at how the US influenced the recent changes of our own Copyright laws to be much in line with the pro-Corporation/screw-Consumer rhetoric of their DMCA policy – its only a matter of time when Harper and gang hop along the US express to invade ALL aspects of our lives ‘for the good of the justice & liberty’.

Doesn’t it look like 2008 is looking so like Orwell’s 1984?

6) HELLBOY – HELL YA! [Review link] This summer is packed with so many good movies, and so far Iron Man and Wanted have NOT disappointed me at all! The trailer is below:

Sorry Apple, I Give Up!

Tag: Creative Media, Mactastic, Steve-o-nismsadmin @ 3:03 am

sad macFor a long time I have been a devout Mac fan – always defending, always buying the newest and best when it comes out and thinking that I was ahead of the curve. But recently I’ve been feeling less a Mac zealot and more a Mac idiot.

But no more paying Steve Jobs – its time to start paying this Steve right here! To think of the countless hours I wasted watching keynotes and reading up Mac sites on every rumour, detail and new feature only to come to realize that it was all a show – a smoke screen – but I nolonger have the wool pulled over my eyes. So now I’m going to begin decrying a new mantra – Turn your back to the Mac.

Once I finish up these projects I’m going to sell every Mac related item I know and fully embrace the other side – the PC – and I can say my eyes are nolonger wide shut. I mean if everyone else is using them, why can’t I join in on the fun? Besides, if I want real fun I can just use my PlayStation 3 now anyways, so its a win-win! Sure I’ll have to contend with a less appealing interface, bloated software, driver issues and constant virus checks BUT I’ll be saving money and all that time I spent reading and watching all that Apple ‘cult-like’ media.

If it feels a bit chilly around here, its probably because hell hath frozen over since I’ve decided to make the switch as its THE LAST thing anyone would  have thought I could do. The new theme will help reflect my change to the darker, more worn side of the tracks where I give up the forbidden fruit for the Windows into a new soul.

Besides, I always did like the ‘PC’ better in the Apple commercial.

Special Report: Snow in Toronto

Tag: Creative Media, Steve-o-nismsadmin @ 10:18 pm

Are you tired as I am of the local news people over exaggerating and sensationalizing every snow fall like it was our some massive onslaught of unbearable terror on the city? Rick Mercer put together an awesome satire about this – enjoy…

No I won’t be your valentine

It’s just another day people.

Nothing needed to buy, say or prove that you can’t do or say just as well all 364 (365 this year) other days of the year to your special someone.

Nothing to see here.

Move along now.

Note: This is my most advanced website to date that utilizes CSS for the complete layout, look and feel. Tables are only used rarely in a very minor supportive role (ie forms) and I’ve even gone as far as having custom stylesheets for IE 6 & lower, IE 7 & higher, and all other browsers to ensure the integrity of the site design is consistent across a wide range of browsers on Mac & PC.

Project: Curraghmore Farms

Tag: Creative Media, Web Techadmin @ 7:03 pm

Today I’m starting a new feature that will showcase some of the client work I develop and design. I invite you to have a look and learn more about the client and project as a whole – you just might find something your interested in.

Website: CurraghmoreFarm.com is a website I designed and launched just before the holidays for Mike and Vera Curraghmore and their Waterdown, Ontario based farm dedicated to the high-quality care of race horses:

Curraghmore Farm websiteWith select accommodation for an exclusive clientele, the paddocks of Curraghmore Farm are gently nestled within hard-wood tree lines and woodlots on the mineral-rich limestone cap of the Niagara Escarpment. Restricted herd size ensures unquestioned quality management of both mare and foal and contributes to our outstanding success of producing three times the North American average of stakes winners. If you are looking for the perfect farm to raise and care for your equine investment, you have come to the right place.

Bond’s latest mission revealed

Tag: Creative Mediaadmin @ 11:10 am

James Bond 007Though late to post, this past Thursday, the latest James Bond movie title and story have been revealed. Titled Quantum of Solace, the 22nd Bond film continues the story where Casino Royale left off. Daniel Craig reprises his role as Bond and in an interview with the BBC reveals a bit of the plot:

“Ian Fleming had written about relationships,” Craig tells the BBC. “When they go wrong, when there’s nothing left, when the spark has gone, when the fire’s gone out, there’s no quantum of solace.

And at the end of the last movie, Bond has the love of his life [Eva Green’s Vesper Lynd] taken away from him and he never got that quantum of solace. So he’s looking for revenge, you know, to make himself happy with the world again. But it, the title, also alludes to something else in the film,” he added.”

The release date is set for November 7th … my calendar is now booked for that day.
